I

have this world existing in my head.

My art pieces are to be understood

as field notes from a world that exists somewhere between a recurring dream, a personal mythology, and an ongoing scientific expedition.

Disclaimer: The terminology of this text is a gathering of my favorite words, I invite you to look up the meaning of any odd word you encounter. This project is a pastiche of the scientific method — an homage to the processes of observation, documentation, classification, and discovery.

My mission:

Document the creatures and buildings of this world.

This place has a dreamlike, surreal, slightly absurd, but also strangely systematic vibe.  This world has existed for as long as I can remember and each time I visit, logic appears stochastic, but certain things repeat with uncanny precision.. This universe is filled with different regions. My research starts with the observation of the capital. The city is erratic, yet strangely familiar.

The Unamed Capital

It is a place where buildings are erected yet the architecture is fluid and melts. It’s ironic because the buildings seem to breathe more than the people. The landscape is oniric. The city is foggy and difficult to distinguish, as if only parts of it appear at the time. When I go there, my vision is blurred, impossible to tell the time and distinguish the horizon, proportions are distorted, facades pour down and lights flicker. Patterns are abundant. The color palette is redundant. The mood is Ostrobolougous (def: Full of Rich dirt).

The Neighbours

Neighbours inhabit the city equipped with a clown-like red nose because the air is so thick it irritates the nostrils. This makes everyone dizzy and drunk from the lack of oxygen. The culture has humor and despair. Species are wild and androgynous. Everyone seems vulnerable and playful but I’m often left with an unsettling feeling. They all have a tendency to frolic amidst an overwhelming chaos. I would love to know what these people call their home but they don't talk. They just exchange feelings with body language.

My process:

Observe its inhabitants.

Record its architecture.

Map its recurring patterns.

Investigate its absurdities.

The research is ongoing.

And, so far, successful.
